IMAGES FROM THE GARDEN
The Botanical Garden and Museum is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition Immagini dall'Orto, an exhibition that celebrates the inspiration that the Botanical Garden of Pisa provides through its evocative views and the plants that are grown there.
The depiction from life enhances manual, artistic and scientific drawing together, unites Art and Science and promotes naturalistic culture. The Scientific-Botanical Painting School, housed at the Botanical Museum, is taught by Silvana Rava, an internationally renowned botanical painter. During her 15 years of teaching in Pisa, Silvana Rava has trained pupils young and old, students and pensioners, experts in drawing or absolute beginners.
This exhibition, which is part of the project ‘At the museum and in the garden: dialogues between art and science’ financed by the Fondazione Pisa and realised with the collaboration of the Biblioteca Universitaria Pisana, will display works by Silvana Rava and her students, depicting plants and images of the Pisan Botanical Garden, offering a demonstration of how everyone can find their own way of expressing themselves through this art, which combines a love of nature and a passion for illustration.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on 4 December at 11 a.m. at the Botanical Museum and will remain open until 6 January 2025.
