This itinerary connects the places lived by one of the most illustrious personalities to whom Pisa gave birth, the one who was considered the father of modern science, namely the Italian physicist, astronomer, philosopher, mathematician and academic Galileo Galilei.
The itinerary also illustrates the life, research and discoveries of other city personalities in the scientific field, such as the great Pisan mathematician Leonardo Fibonacci, the Pisan astronomer and mathematician Giovan Battista Donati, Ulisse Dini and others. Up to the present day, when the scientific and cultural greatness of the city is well represented by the works preserved in the museums that are part of the University Museum System and by the didactic and research actvities that is carried out daily in the three Pisan universities and from the numerous existing research centers.
The radio station of Marconi, located in the Coltano estate, within the Natural Park of Migliarino, San Rossore and Massaciuccoli, and Piazza delle Baleari with the Bruno and Gillo Pontecorvo terrace, located in the seaside town of Marina di Pisa, are part of the city pedestrian circuit and can be reached by public or private transport.
The Marconi radio station, however, cannot be visited at the moment.
Finally, we would like to inform you that the Museum of Calculation Instruments and the Museum of Physics Instruments are temporarily closed for renovations.
