This itinerary does not wind through the streets of the city, but illustrates the beauty of its coast.
The seafaring vocation of the city, which seems to have been born with its construction, is represented today by its coastline, included between two nature reserves, which goes from the locality of Bocca D’Arno to the Calambrone area.
The natural charm of the Pisan coast, which alternates sandy and wild dunes with wide sand beaches and small beaches enclosed in coves protected, is enriched by the beauty of its seaside resorts. On over 10 km of coastline there are lively night clubs, bathing establishments, adventure and water parks, campsites and various types of accommodation that are pleasantly combined with the sweet relaxation offered by the pine forest and the Mediterranean scrub.
A particular mention must be made of the Basilica of San Piero a Grado, a suggestive church built near a disappeared river port of the ancient Porto Pisano.
The route of this itinerary, clearly outside the city circuit, starts from the Basilica di San Piero, a place that can be reached by public and private transport, and extends for about 27 Km, which, in turn, can be travelled by public or private transport, or by bicycle using the cycle paths in the area.
To visit the WWF Oases 'Bosco della Cornacchiaia' and 'Dune di Tirrenia' it is necessary to make an appointment by contacting the WWF operators of the two natural sites.
Finally, please note that the Pisorno/Cosmopolitan film studios cannot be visited, as they have been closed since the late 1960s.
