Veduta aerea abitato Marina di Pisa _ foto con drone (M. Boi, Comune di Pisa)'The village of sand and of spirits' Marina was officially founded in 1872, but in 1905 the sea had already eroded much of the beach that had been equipped for seaside tourism for the past few years. At the time, families came from the city with bags full of salami, bread and a flask of wine to spend the day at the beach. In 1892, many arrived with the trammino (train), which stopped running since 1960. Marina di Pisa immediately became a renowned location, also for the Pisorno film studios that were established nearby in 1933. Before their birth as great stars, actors like Eleonora Duse stayed in the Marina, and with her the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio.
