Domus Galilaeana
Ingresso dell'edificio su Via Santa Maria - Domus Galilaeana (G. Bettini, Comune di Pisa)On the occasion of the first centenary of the Congress of Italian Scientists held in Pisa, Giovanni Gentile promoted the opening of a centre for the collection of scientific studies, mainly linked to the figure of Galileo Galilei. Over the centuries the building housed the Specola tower and an astronomical observatory, demolished in the 19th century. Inside the Domus there are over 40,000 volumes on the history of science, among which the first editions of Galileo's works, part of the Antonio Favaro collection, the documents of the Enrico Fermi collection and Notebooks of Dreams by Antonio Pacinotti.
