'Arsenal Modelling': an exhibition to tell the story of seafaring from antiquity to the present day.
Over 70 unique ship models to tell the story of seafaring from antiquity to the present day. From 3 to 5 November, the exhibition 'Modellismo d'Arsenale' will take place at the Republican Arsenals. The event has been planned by the Promosferae aps ets association and co-organised by the same with the Department of Culture and Traditions of History and Identity of the Municipality of Pisa, with the patronage of the Municipality of Pisa, the Province of Pisa, the Navy, the Institution of the Knights of St Stephen, the National Association of Sailors of Italy and the Italian Naval League.
The exhibition will be open to visitors free of charge:
- 3 November from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- 4 and 5 November from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Fortress and the Guelph Tower will also be open to visitors free of charge. On the days of the exhibition, the Pisan Red Galleon will also be on display in front of the Arsenals.
The exhibiting modellers come from many Italian regions such as Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Lombardy, Piedmont, Apulia and Tuscany. There will also be a continental presence with one model maker from France and one from Spain. The models on display will be over 70 and represent the history of world seafaring from Ancient Egypt to the present day. The size of the models varies from the miniature of about 20 centimetres to a scale of 1:24, or about 160 centimetres.
