From Sunday 24 November to Saturday 21 December 2024, ‘Nessiah’ returns, a journey into the Jewish collective imagination, now in its 28th edition.
This year, the Nessiah Festival celebrates the centenary of the death of Franz Kafka, one of the most interesting literary figures of the 20th century.
During the festival, you will explore how that existential angst and sense of estrangement that we find prevalent in his poetics can be linked to his Jewish heritage.
Kafka's works are often steeped in themes reminiscent of the Talmud and Kabbalah, such as guilt, the search for justice and the fate of the individual in the face of incomprehensible forces.
Through concerts, lectures, readings and theatrical performances, the festival will provide an inspiring opportunity to reflect on the influence of Jewish culture on Kafka's life and work.
You will explore how his stories, often described as enigmatic and surreal, reflect the anxieties and hopes of a man who constantly questioned the meaning of human identity in a rapidly changing world.
