The Pisa Book Festival 2024, the national fair of independent publishing organised by the Pisa Book Festival association, under the patronage of the Municipality of Pisa, is back!

This year, the theme of the edition will be the Sea, a red thread that will unite the great classics of literature such as Conrad and Stevenson with the contemporaries who have sung about it in prose and verse, but also a tribute to Pisa and its past as a maritime republic. Book lovers are invited to get lost among the stands of independent publishers, rediscover the classics of literature, and participate in the numerous activities designed for readers of all ages. In addition to publishers and writers who will present their latest novels, we have the pleasure of hosting the Pisa Book Translation Awards 2024, a special award celebrating the talent of translators, the fundamental pillars that allow stories to travel without borders.

For four days, from Thursday 3 October to Sunday 6 October, the Pisa Book Festival presents itself to the public as a cultural event that combines the promotion of books, a place of the soul, with that of museums and historical complexes, places of art, identity and historical memory.

The great festival of literature returns to the Arsenali Repubblicani di Pisa where meetings, workshops, readings and debates await you that will make your experience unforgettable. Other spectacular venues will host many events including the Museum of Ancient Ships, the Royal Palace, Fortilizio della Cittadella, the Church of San Vito, Palazzo Blu and the Royal Victoria Hotel.

The festival will be open with these hours:

  • Thursday and Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The event opens on Thursday, 3 October at 4 p.m. at the Arsenali Repubblicani, with the classic ribbon-cutting ceremony in the presence of Lucia Della Porta, director of the Pisa Book Festival, Michele Conti, mayor of Pisa, Filippo Bedini, councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Pisa, Eugenio Giani, president of the Region of Tuscany, Stefano Del Corso, president of the Fondazione Pisa, Cosimo Bracci Torsi, president of the Fondazione Palazzo Blu and Massimo Daddà, director of the Musei Nazionali di Pisa.
