Art and Artificial Intelligence: from Friday 19 July, ‘MuraInArt’ opens in the restored spaces of the Bastione del Parlascio and on the elevated walkway of the Walls of Pisa. The artistic group ‘Lavorare Camminare’ exhibits a series of site-specific installations that enhance the spaces, creating a dialogue between the ancient and the contemporary. Environment, technology, sustainability, imagining a new ‘post-human’ condition: with their works, the artists investigate the influence of technological innovations on human life in general and on art in particular: how they change the perception of the world, how they extend the sense of possibility and condition social and economic structures, how they modify aesthetic and common sense.
MuraInArt will be open until 29 September during the opening hours of the Walls. Also included in the entrance ticket to the monument will be an artistic guided tour, a live artistic performance, and the presentation of the exhibition catalogue.
LavorareCamminare is an association of artists, each with an important career behind them, born out of an invention by Bruno Sullo. The name chosen is taken from a song by singer-songwriter Piero Ciampi and best expresses the conception that the members of the group have of art: a living work that renews and regenerates itself, an opportunity to make artistic work explicit, an opportunity for concrete activity aimed at walking and experimenting, at changing day after day, a permanent renewal that looks to the future. The current members are: Manlio Allegri, Aldo Filippi, I Santini Del Prete, Piero Mochi, Paolo Netto, with artistic coordination by Ilario Luperini. The group, which has already developed a series of themes on various aspects of life and art, has since 2019 undertaken an initiative called Dialogues with, aimed at establishing an equal relationship with significant socio-cultural realities identified in various places and cities. To date, two important initiatives have been realised: Dialogues with Villa Mimbelli in 2021 in Livorno and Dialogues with Palazzo Minucci Solaini in 2023 in Volterra. A forerunner was the experience of Colloqui con la Fortezza Vecchia in Livorno in 2018. MurInArt - Walls, Artificial Intelligence, Art - is the third stage.
CoopCulture, Cooperativa Itinera and Promocultura constitute the association of enterprises that manages the high-level walkway of the Ancient Walls of Pisa. Built between the 12th and 13th centuries, the Walls of Pisa are an example of the military architecture of the time, a sign of the greatness of the Pisan Republic and today a privileged vantage point from which to admire the city. Recently opened is the fifth access point: the Bastione del Parlascio, a defensive structure built by Filippo Brunelleschi and Nanni Unghero.
