Sunday 7 April sees the renewal of the appointment with Sunday at the Museum, the Ministry of Culture's initiative that allows free admission, every first Sunday of the month, to state museums and archaeological parks. 

The national museums in Pisa are taking part:

• The Museo Nazionale di San Matteo will be open from 9am to 1.30 p.m (last entry at 1pm).

At 11.00 a.m., museum staff will accompany visitors to discover the tapestry depicting 'The Meeting of Lorenzo the Magnificent with the Duke of Calabria', woven between 1570 and 1571 in Florence. The work, recently restored, is being exhibited for the first time in the museum's Tapestry Room after having been presented at the Florentine exhibition dedicated to Giovanni Stradano, the author of the preparatory drawing.

• The Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Reale will be open from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. (last admission at 1.30 p.m.)

At 11 a.m., Prof. Marco Collareta will give a lecture on the Triptych of San Domenico by Francesco Traini, the most important Pisan painter of the 14th century. The work is the only one to be signed by the artist and, based on it, it has been possible to reconstruct his activity. The saint is depicted standing, while the vivid stories framed by polylobate panels tell his life story, from the Birth to the Esequies. The Triptych dialogues in the museum with the polyptych signed by Simone Martini: both works were destined for the Dominican church of St Catherine of Alexandria. In the same church, it is still possible to admire the recently restored Triumph of St. Thomas by Lippo Memmi

The museums of the Sistema Museale d'Ateneo will also have free admission:
