From 23 January to 14 April 2024, the Natural History Museum is delighted to host the photographic exhibition 'Viaggio nel microcosmo' by Massimo Brizzi.
Massimo Brizzi
Passionate about Entomology and Photography, he has combined these two interests to devote himself to macro and microphotography research.
By observing the world of insects, the artist has been able to capture the multiple aspects of their lives, fix them in images and transform them into touching works of art.
He observed, photographed and documented, also with the help of an optical microscope, the microfauna of the undergrowth: pseudoscorpions, collemboles, mites, beetle larvae, wood termites, and various types of ants.
The use of the microscope has also allowed him to devote himself to documenting parasitic arthropods and organisms found in the waters of streams, rivers and lakes, the vital functions of which he has witnessed in the water purification process.
His macro and microphotographs aim to make people aware of those living beings that, although invisible or less observable to the naked eye, are an essential part of the ecosystem and the survival of our planet.
In 2018, it won the Wiki Science Competition: the world's largest science photography competition, organised by users of the Wikimedia platforms.
