Spring is in full bloom at the Museum of Ancient Ships in Pisa!

 The arrival of the season that marks the awakening of nature will also coincide with the inauguration of a new extraordinary calendar of openings to the public, which the museum will observe from 21 March to 31 May. During this period, in fact, the rooms of the Arsenali Medicei, custodians of artefacts spanning more than a thousand years of the history of the city of Pisa, will also remain open on weekdays, from Tuesday to Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm, and from Friday to Sunday from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm. The decision was taken by the Cooperativa Archeologia, which holds the museum in concession, in agreement with the Regional Museums Directorate of Tuscany, following numerous requests received, and will allow visitors to admire, throughout the week, Roman-era boats, found with their cargo still on board and in excellent condition, as well as numerous other testimonies of life at sea in past centuries, made up of trade, shipwrecks, men and voyages. The Museum of Ancient Ships in Pisa was in fact conceived as a place of narration, where visitors can listen, participate and experience the stories that each object is able to tell. What makes this place truly unique are the almost 5,000 square metres of exhibition space, with 800 exhibits, displayed in 47 sections divided into 8 thematic areas with seven vessels from the Roman era, dating from between the 3rd century B.C. and the 7th century A.D., four of which are substantially intact. In 2019, after more than twenty years of research and restoration, the exhibition was inaugurated at the Arsenali Medicei, a place that represents Pisa's long link with navigation, but also a symbol of Grand Duke Cosimo I de' Medici's desire to revive the Pisa of the original Maritime Republic. A place rich in history, which from 21 March can be experienced with more days available for visitors.
