VerdePisa is an event dedicated to the protection of nature and the care of greenery and the territory, organised under the patronage of the Municipality of Pisa.
The event includes an exhibition route that will take place in the city's historic centre with the intention of developing, year after year, in adjacent locations of considerable importance.
VerdePisa presents itself as the ideal showcase of the Pisan territory for the promotion of the floricultural sector and as a place of confrontation and in-depth examination of the themes concerning green areas and their relationship with the Environment.

The Botanical Garden of Pisa is the oldest university garden in the world and houses plants from the five continents. We will discover together this green reality of Pisa, telling some of the curiosities related to this historical place and related to the species that are preserved there.

Not only a passion for archaeology: a look at techniques, materials and daily life at sea, going back many centuries, thanks to the discovery of a site of absolute importance and an evocative and modern museum layout.

THE QUARTER OF S. MARTINO 10.30 am (Duration 1.30 hrs Departure from Piazza Chiara Gambacorti)
This walk will guide you to the discovery of one of the most "intimate" quarters of the city: the churches of S. Martino and S. Sepolcro, the ancient noble palaces, Piazza Chiara Gambacorti and the famous "Pera".
FROM THE RIVER TO THE FORT at 4.30 pm a walk through history and nature in our city (Departure in front of the Church of San Michele degli Scalzi, duration 2.30 h)
Starting from the Church of San Michele degli Scalzi, a walk along the green Viale delle Piagge will take us to the botanical species that shade it, discovering their names and curiosities. When we arrive at the Fortezza nuova, Giardino Scotto, we will listen to the history of this place and together we will get to know a natural station of the Great Crested Newt (Triturus carnifex) recently discovered and monitored by the University of Pisa and environmental associations within the walls of our city.

HIDDEN JEWELS 11.00 a.m. (Departure from the Chiesa della Spina, duration 1.30 hours)
A short walk to discover a piece of forgotten Pisa: starting from the famous church of the Spina we will discover the recently restored chapel of S. Agata and the church of S. Paolo a Ripa d'Arno, which has been closed for many years, ending our walk at the Porta della Degazia and the Sostegno, evidence of the ancient hydraulic system of the city and its surroundings.
A MOBILE GARDEN 3.00 p.m. From the Arsenali Medicei to the New Botanical Garden, a history of botanical transfers - Departure of the visit from the Guelph Tower, duration 3.00 hours
Did you know that the current location of the Botanical Garden is not the same as it was in 1543? Where was it before and what is now in its place? From the birthplace to the final location of the Botanical Garden, we will walk together through some of Pisa's historical sites, concluding the walk with a visit to the rich green area of our city.
OTHER EVENTS
8-9-10 April At the stand of the Santoni Institute in Pisa, specializing in agriculture, food processing and agro-industry, the students of the two fourth classes will carry out, together with visitors, workshops on the mini-growing of medicinal plants and seed bombs for the repopulation of fallow land.
8-9-10 April At the stand of the Associazione San Tommaso in Ponte, free distribution of small bags containing untreated lemons collected in the Pisan fields.
The proceeds will be used to finance the solidarity initiatives that the Association carries out, (e.g. the after-school programme that this year already covers about 65 middle school pupils (depending on the needs, it will be extended to help the school integration of very young people from Ukraine).
9 April: Walls of Pisa and Botanical Garden and Museum of the University of Pisa: "Botanical Walls", guided tour to discover the flora of the walls of Pisa and the collections of the Botanical Garden and Museum. Maximum 3 groups of 20 people. Departures from the piezometric tower (ex Marzotto) at 15.00, 15.30, 16.00. The guided tour is free of charge, participants will only have to pay the cost of the entrance tickets to the two structures for a total of €7.00.
