Autumn is a season to be experienced on the Walls: from the warm colours of the tree foliage to the small animals that animate the high walkway, a true ecological corridor in the city centre. On Sunday 6 November from 2.30 to 4.30 p.m., Silvia Sorbi and Marco Zuffi of the University of Pisa Museum of Natural History will lead a naturalistic excursion dedicated to the natural and semi-natural microenvironments present on the 11-metre high walkway, guiding participants in observing rocks, plants and animals, listening to bird songs and examining tracks, with special attention to waterways, both visible and hidden.
Departure from the Torre di Legno behind Piazza del Rosso and arrival in Piazza dei Miracoli where you can enjoy the spectacle of the monuments in the light of sunset.
Tickets at 10 euro including entrance to the Walls of Pisa, 1.50 euro for reservation fee. Comfortable shoes, water, hat and binoculars are recommended. This initiative is the result of the collaboration and agreement between Mura di Pisa and the Natural History Museum of the University of Pisa, a collaboration that already provides cross-discounts for people visiting both tourist sites during normal opening hours.
The Natural History Museum of the University of Pisa is located in the evocative Certosa di Calci and is one of the oldest museums in the world. Founded at the end of the 16th century as a 'Gallery' annexed to the Giardino dei Semplici in Pisa (today's Botanical Garden), the Museum has enriched its collections over the centuries and today holds a heritage of enormous historical and scientific value.
