Night walk on the Walls with film projections that tell the passage of the War in Pisa. Three replicas, limited places, how to book. Tour in italian.
50% will be donated to the Misericordia for missions bringing food and goods to support the Ukrainian population
Bombs, foreign occupation, displaced persons, hunger, massacres, civilian victims. It is happening now in Ukraine. It happened in Pisa to our grandparents. On the occasion of the week of 25 April, anniversary of the Liberation, Mura di Pisa and Acquario della Memoria organise a special edition of Mura di Pisa Night Experience. A nocturnal walking cinema tour to tell the story of the Second World War in the city through sounds and images: the enthusiasm of the beginning, the bombing of 31 August 1943, the German occupation, the resistance of the Casarosa partisan brigade, the city divided in two by the Arno front, the cathedral invaded by evacuees, the burning of the Monumental Cemetery, the Nazi round-ups, up to 2 September 1944, the liberation of Pisa.
With immersive audio narratives and travelling projections on the Ancient Walls, the events of the war are brought back to life in the testimony of those who were there, in archive images, in the stories of private diaries," explains Lorenzo Garzella, soul of the Acquario della Memoria association. "Vivid words and original documents that recount a tragedy so disproportionate as to appear almost surreal, the subject of a narrative without temporal or territorial boundaries.
Thanks to the Acquario della Memoria association, 50% of the takings will be donated to the Misericordia di Pisa for the travel missions that bring food and basic necessities to support the Ukrainian population. Moreover, the book 'Diari del coprifuoco' will be on sale for 10 euros instead of 15 and the proceeds will also go to support the humanitarian collection, also via web on www.acquariodellamemoria.it with free shipping.

The initiative is part of the Mura di Pisa Night Experience project, conceived and developed by the cultural association Acquario della Memoria and supported by the Fondazione Pisa, in collaboration with other partners including Ati Mura di Pisa (CoopCulture, Itinera, Promocultura), the Municipality of Pisa, Mappa Lab - University of Pisa - Department of Civilisations and Forms of Knowledge, Nanof, Internet Festival, Alma Artis Academy.
CoopCulture, Cooperativa Itinera and Promocultura constitute the association of enterprises that manages the high altitude walkway of the Ancient Walls of Pisa. Built between the 12th and 13th centuries, the Walls of Pisa are an example of the military architecture of the time, a sign of the greatness of the Pisan Republic and today a privileged viewpoint from which to admire the city.
