August of events and music at La Nunziatina in Pisa. If you are still in the city or have already returned from your holidays, the historical garden of Palazzo Mastiani Brunacci, a stone's throw from Corso Italia, awaits you this week with four evenings dedicated to songs tucked away in the drawers of our memory, where we know we can find memories that a melodic incipit can bring out, together with the emotions that those songs aroused.
From Modugno to Mina, and then Renato Carosone, Paolo Conte, Adriano Celentano, we have asked the artists who will perform at La Nunziatina from 3 to 6 August (8.30 p.m.), for a repertoire that spans the period from the 1930s to the 1960s.
It starts on 3 August with Dualiber. The duo was born at an unspecified time in the corridors of the La Spezia Conservatory, where singer-songwriter Bernardo Sommani met the voice of Alice Innocenti. The minimalist line-up brings music back to its most intimate and collected essence, made up of a few plucked strings and two voices that mingle. The repertoire takes up and rearranges, with imagination, freedom and minimal refinement, songs from different traditions, from Brazil to 1960s Italy.
Thursday 4 August will be the turn of La Dolce Vita, the duo composed of Valeria Volpi's voice and Carlo De Toni's guitar, who in a 1940s-style aesthetic bring back the songs of Italy in black and white, faithfully reinterpreting the decades of the 1930s/'40s/'50s. At La Nunziatina, the sounds that were the pillars of the history of Italian song return, and through presentations full of anecdotes and curiosities, the songs of personalities such as Natalino Otto, Trio Lescano, Wanda Osiris, Alberto Rabagliati, Renato Carosone, Nilla Pizzi, Domenico Modugno and many other unforgettable artists come back to life.
Friday 5 August sees the arrival of Maura Balzini's piano notes, live every week this summer at the Giardino: her music has accompanied Mediterranean cruises for years.
After the success of the opening live show of the summer at La Nunziatina, with covers of great interpreters in the 'crooning' style, Bobo Rondelli will close the festival dedicated to lost songs with a concert on Saturday 6 August. The singer-songwriter from Livorno will perform his repertoire dedicated to the greats of Italian songs, such as Mina, Adriano Celentano, Paolo Conte, and Domenico Modugno.
