The appointment with the Saverio Masi Memorial is renewed, this year reaching its 18th edition. The event, which combines charity with the commemoration of the firefighter who died in a work accident in 2006, is organised by the Saverio Masi committee , the Pisa Fire Brigade Provincial Command and its Billi-Masi rowing sports group together with UISP Pisa, and will consist of a non-competitive walk, inclusive and open to all. The proceeds will be donated to the Pisa section of theItalian Union against Muscular Dystrophy.
The start in staggered groups is scheduled for 9.30 a.m. on Sunday 24 November from the headquarters of the Pisa Provincial Fire Brigade: the walk will then pass along the city walls (in case of rain, the passage will be under the Walls), cross Piazza dei Miracoli and enter the Botanical Garden of Pisa University. The 6-kilometre route will end by returning to the barracks via a passage along the Lungarni. There will be two separate entry points to access the walk on the walls: the first from the Torre di Legno in Piazza del Rosso, for independent access; the second from Piazza delle Gondole, to facilitate access for people with walking difficulties and wheelchairs. To allow the event to take place in safety, theANVVF of Pisa will be present, in addition to the command operators who will accompany persons with disabilities along the entire route, and will preside over the refreshment point and an ambulance from the Misericordia di Calci.
It is possible to register for the walk, which has a registration fee of 5 euro, by going to the Redrunning shop (Lungarno Gambacorti, 16), or at one of the two stands that will be set up on Saturday 25 November from 10 am to 7 pm: one will be in Borgo Stretto next to the Church of San Michele in Borgo; the other inside the Pisanova shopping centre, which has given its patronage to the event together with the Municipality of Pisa. Finally, it will be possible to register on the morning itself, presenting oneself from 8 to 9 a.m. at the meeting point.
