The exhibition in memory of Renzo Meucci, organised and curated by Massimiliano Sbrana, an affectionate homage to a man who left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew him, will be inaugurated on Saturday 7 December 2024 at 5.30 p.m. in the Fibonacci Room of the GAMeC CentroArteModerna in Pisa (Lungarno Mediceo 26).

Renzo Meucci, known affectionately as ‘Renzino’ by his many friends, was born in Pisa in 1939. From an early age, he cultivated a deep passion for art and drawing in particular.

During the post-war period, Renzo, often in the company of his brother Mario Meucci (now a well-known painter in Pisa) used to draw American cars in Piazza dei Miracoli, attracting the attention and admiration of tourists with his skill and creativity.

His passion for drawing faded somewhat over time but never waned, continuing to produce works that reflected his love of detail and precision. In the following decades, Renzo Meucci would continue to explore various forms of creativity such as modelling.

Four years after his sudden death in November 2020, his family decided to pay tribute to his memory with a special exhibition. His wife Anna, his children Monica and Moreno, and his brother Mario have carefully selected a series of drawings made by Renzo Meucci between 1950 and 1960, a particularly significant period for the artist.

These drawings, which include boats, ships, planes, cars and portraits of famous actresses of the time, offer an intimate glimpse into his youthful artistic vision and passions.

The exhibition will continue until 18 December 2024. (admission free).

Hours: 10-12:30 a.m. 4-6:30 p.m. (weekdays); closed Mondays. Special openings Sunday 15 December 2024 4-6:30 p.m.
