The fruitful collaboration for the dissemination of Portuguese culture in Pisa continues between the Antero de Quental Chair (Camões, IP/ University of Pisa), the disciplines of Literature and Portuguese Language of the Department of Philology, Literature and Linguistics of the University of Pisa, the Portuguese Embassy in Rome and the Graphic Museum (Comune di Pisa, Università di Pisa). After the show on 5 May in the halls of Palazzo Lanfranchi, this time there is a concert of the renowned Portuguese trio Rumos Ensemble, which will reinterpret the music of singer-songwriter José Afonso, known above all for the song "Grândola, vila morena", soundtrack of the peaceful Revolution of the Carnations of 25 April 1974.

José Afonso is a fine interpreter of Portuguese popular music, the result of a deep research on the folk traditions of his country. On the occasion of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Revolution of the Carnations, the trio will bring on stage the Ridotto of the Teatro Verdi (Titta Ruffo Room) the music of the composer in a multimedia show that will accompany us between the agreements of José Afonso retrace his artistic career through the virtual voice of my friend musician Carlo Alberto Moniz.

The trio Rumos Ensemble, composed by violinist and composer Anne Victorino d'Almeida, clarinetist Luís Gomes and pianist, photographer and video maker João Vasco, was formed in 2015 with the multimedia concert "Tocando Portugal". The success of this project has led the trio to perform in Portugal, Germany, France, Namibia, South Africa, the USA, Cuba, Switzerland, Tunisia, Cape Verde, Spain, Denmark, Brazil, China, Greece, Bulgaria and Hungary. In 2022, the Rumos Ensemble invited the composer Carlos Alberto Moniz, friend and stage mate of José Afonso, to conceive and participate in the project "Tocando José Afonso", which now, after various performances around the world, takes the stage at the Sala Titta Ruffo of the Verdi Theatre.

The show, which will take place on Sunday, December 15 at 16.00 in the Titta Ruffo Room of the Teatro Verdi di Pisa, is made possible thanks to the sponsorship and support of: Ambasciata del Portogallo a Roma, Instituto Camões, Direção Geral das Artes, Dipartimento di Filologia, Letteratura e Linguistica dell’Università di Pisa, Museo della Grafica (Comune di Pisa, Università di Pisa)
