From 12 to 29 April 2025, Palazzo Toniolo will open its doors to Prigionieri, the photographic exhibition by Valerio Bispuri that recounts the Italian prison world with strength and humanity.
Through 33 black and white shots, the author accompanies us through the corridors and cells of some Italian prisons such as Regina Coeli (Rome), Poggioreale (Naples), Ucciardone (Palermo), Bollate Prison (Milan), San Vittore (Milan), Giudecca (Venice), Capanne Prison (Perugia), Rebibbia women's prison (Rome) and the Colonia Penale di Isili (Sardinia), giving us a powerful and intimate look at the condition of prisoners and female inmates.
The initiative is organised under the patronage of the Municipality of Pisa and the University of Pisa, with the support of the Pisa Foundation, CIF Foundation, The Wide Factory, Impegno e Futuro and Radio Incontro Pisa.
The exhibition can be visited every day from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Sundays also in the morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free admission.
The exhibition takes place inside a historical building that, due to its conformation, has architectural barriers. In order to facilitate access also for people with motor difficulties, on 15, 20 and 22 April 2025 a dedicated support service will be available from 4 to 7 p.m. It is advisable to contact the FondazioneOpera Toniolo by writing here: segreteria@fondazioneoperatoniolo.it.
