"Generation" is the natural and biological process by which living beings reproduce, guaranteeing the continuity and survival of the species itself.
Generation is also an artificial demarcation line with which we map the evolution of human society. Over time, human generations follow one another, each characterized by shared experiences, common traits, collective events and behavioral patterns that distinguish what precedes from what follows.
No generation is an island, though. On the contrary, each one acts as a bridge between past and future in an intergenerational exchange that guarantees the continuous transfer of knowledge, ideas and criticism.
The more recent generations (Millennials, Z, Alpha) have as common denominators, among others, also the technological paradigm, the interaction with digital resources and a continuous access to the world of information, which play a fundamental role in defining perspectives, New attitudes and parameters of social belonging and identity.
In the age of artificial intelligence, the progress of models and algorithms has allowed further evolution of the concept of generation, opening up new and complex scenarios. Today, digital tools are able to generate new and original content in different areas, emulating the skill of human ingenuity and creativity.
For this reason, the originality of such creations is increasingly debated, as digital innovation may undermine the generative value of human beings.
The digital space offers an unlimited library of knowledge and accessible resources in which people of the contemporary age can reorganize their knowledge and generate new works, amplifying the potentialities of their own ingenuity.
The human being remains the engine of generation, with the ability to guide and control artificial generativity in respect of ethics and human rights. Thus, generation is a process that, while combining natural and artificial elements, leaves men and women at the center as creative and responsible agents.
