On 27 September, the annual "European Night of Researchers" will be held again, an event created by the EU Commission with the aim of spreading scientific culture and celebrated simultaneously throughout Europe. In Tuscany, a rich program of initiatives is planned - presented today at a press conference -, under the title BRIGHT-NIGHT. A name that is also a program: the word night is joined by the acronym of "Brilliant Researchers Impact on Growth Health and Trust in research", that is talented researchers have an impact on growth, health and confidence in research.

BRIGHT-NIGHT is in fact the whole world of research in Tuscany: it is promoted by the Universities (University of Florence, Pisa, Siena, Siena Foreigners, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna di Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore and Scuola IMT Alti Studi Lucca) and a wide network of research institutions - the National Research Council (CNR), the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the European Gravitational Observatory (EGO-Virgo), the National Institute of Astrophysics- Astrophysical Observatory of Arcetri (INAF-OAA) - with the support of the Tuscany Region, within Giovanisì, the regional project for the autonomy of young people.

The brightest night of the year will be animated in the squares of our cities by workshops, experiments, demonstrations, talks and shows. Guided tours of museums and laboratories are also planned, with the opening of research sites to the public. Not to mention the children, who will find a rich calendar of proposals designed especially for them, as well as schools, which in many cities will be involved in specific activities.

The new 2024 is the theme "BRIGHT Women", a special focus dedicated to research and studies that promote the well-being and emancipation of women and that, as a common thread, will unite the squares of all Tuscany, with a joint event scheduled in Florence.

Bright Night this year expands beyond the traditional "Squares of Research" to land in Piazza dei Miracoli with the initiative "BRIGHT TOWER". This proposal offers an exceptional opportunity to deepen the knowledge of the historical and artistic heritage of one of the most beautiful and famous squares in the world. Two major cultural activities will be proposed in this context.
