The celebrations for the Remembrance Day 2024 will take place on Saturday 10 February. An appointment established by Italian Parliament Law n.92/2004 to preserve and renew the memory of the tragedy of the Italians and all the victims of the foibe, the exodus of Istrians from their lands, rivers and Dalmatians in the post-World War II and the more complex story of the eastern border.
To celebrate the anniversary Municipality of Pisa, Prefecture of Pisa, Province of Pisa and National Association Venezia Giulia and Dalmatia - Committee of Pisa have organized a significant program of initiatives, which includes:
- 9.00 am - Eucharistic celebration and commemoration at the Suburban Cemetery of Pisa in Via Pietrasantina. Deposition of a laurel wreath at the memorial of the victims of the Julian-Dalmatian foibe and exiles.
- 10.30 am - Teatro Verdi in Pisa, testimony taken from "L'Istria di Gina" by Pino Crapanzano, read by Maria Grazia Valdini. Previewed the participations of the Prefect of Pisa Maria Luisa D'Alessandro, of the Mayor of Pisa Michele Conti, of the President of the Province Massimiliano Angori and the President of the association ANVGD Pisa Clelia Kolman. To follow "From the foibe to the debut - The martyrdom of the Italians and the history of the eastern border". The writer and philosopher Stefano Zecchi and the journalist from Trieste Fausto Biloslavo will be present.
- 3.00 pm - Laying of a laurel wreath on the "Martini delle foibe" stone in Marina di Pisa (via Milazzo, 55)
- 4.15 pm - Laying of a bouquet of flowers at the roundabout "Martiri delle foibe" in Porta a Lucca.
- 4.45 pm - Laying of a bunch outside the roundabout "Norma Cossetto".
The students of the schools of Pisa will take part in the various initiatives. Citizenship is invited.
