"Terre di Pisa Food&Wine Festival" celebrates its 9th edition in the new location of Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, in the city centre, a stone's throw from Pisa Centrale railway station. The festival will be held outdoors, with wooden structures set up to house the stands of Pisan producers of wine, oil, cheese, cured meats, pasta, wines, beers, liqueurs, chocolate and biscuits.
Bars and restaurants on the Piazza will be involved with menus and themed workshops, as well as ad hoc events in the Chamber of Commerce areas. Some of the products will be used as raw materials for original or traditional dishes, in combination with wines from the Terre di Pisa DOC. In the Oil Bar area, it will be possible to learn more about the organoleptic characteristics of oils of different origins through guided tastings and information on oil and food pairings.
Chocolate, the "food of the gods", will also be the theme of workshops and a competition open to the public. Participants, guided by experts, will be asked to identify its organoleptic characteristics and decide which is the best.
The University of Pisa and its interdepartmental centre Nutrafood will also be present to provide information on how to buy and consume more consciously, healthily and safely.
There will also be space for children: in front of Keith Haring's Murales, children will be involved in drawing activities related to food and invited to have a tasty, healthy snack.
Conventions with museums and tourist guides for admission and guided tours will be offered during the three days of the event, as well as tourist offers for a one-day wine and food experience or a longer stay among art and flavours.
