Pisa joins #BEACTIVE - European Week of Sport. The initiative, launched by the European Union, takes place every year from 23 to 30 September through a series of events held throughout the country with the aim of promoting sport and healthy and active lifestyles, and consequently the physical and mental well-being of the citizens of the European Community. For the occasion, the Municipal Administration will organize the White Night of Sport, scheduled for Saturday, September 23.

7.00 p.m. opening of stands and start of performances in Piazza Garibaldi, Piazza XX Settembre, Logge dei Banchi, Lugarno Gambacorti and Lungarno Galilei, Largo Ciro Menotti, Piazza della Pera, Giardino Fiumi e Fossi;
7:30 pm official inauguration from the Ponte di mezzo;
9:15 p.m. talk under the Loggias "Pisa city of sport
10:00 p.m. talk under the Loggias "Health and inclusion in sport
23:30 end of performances;
The University Museum System also joins the European Week of Sport 2023 (EWOS, European Week of Sport), a project conceived in 2015 and financed by the European Commission that aims to promote Sport, healthy and active lifestyles, and the physical and mental wellbeing of European citizens.
Participation, inclusion and innovation are the themes that characterise this year's edition, which in Italy will see Sports Federations, Associated Sporting Disciplines, Sports Promotion Bodies, Well-known Associations, as well as Gyms, Sports Clubs, Amateur Sports Associations and Societies, Municipalities and their administrations, in the realisation of a significant sequence of events united by the European campaign characterised by the slogan #BeActive.
Below are the events organised by the museums for the White Night of Sport.
MUSEO DELLA GRAFICA: extraordinary opening on Saturday 23 September from 8 to 11 p.m. with the exhibition "Fashion, Sport & Tourism";
MUSEUM OF HUMAN ANATOMY "F. Civinini"
- The locomotor system in the Museum of Human Anatomy
Free guided tour of the museum and the Mascagni Gallery on Saturday 23 September from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (the tour will be repeated on 25-27 September from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.);
GIPSOTECA OF ANCIENT ART
Saturday 23 September 'Stories of sport and sportsmen among the plaster casts in the Gipsoteca', a free activity for children from 10.30 to 11.30 am;
Participants will explore the plaster casts in the Plaster Casts Gallery concerning athletes and sport in the ancient world, try their hand at a game of statue recognition, and conclude the visit with an artistic activity.
MUSEUM OF PATHOLOGICAL ANATOMY
Tuesday 26 September at 4.30 p.m., lecture and visit to the palaeopathology collection The athlete of Taranto: Sport in antiquity and palaeopathology.
The conference, held by Prof. Gino Fornaciari, will focus on the theme of the practice of sport in Classical Antiquity based on literary and artistic evidence. The bioarchaeological study conducted on the so-called 'athlete of Taranto', an individual from a 5th century B.C. funerary complex who has been identified as a possible athlete thanks to the elements of the trousseau, will also be presented. The ergonomic and palaeopathological analysis of his skeleton revealed interesting details about the life of this athlete.

Below are other events that will take place in Pisa as part of the European Week of Sport:
24 September: PIAZZA IN DANZA, a free event in Piazza Santa Caterina, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Performances and demonstrations of academic and choreographic dance;
30 September: CSI in Tour in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, a multi-sport touring event with free admission at midnight. Demonstrations of gymnastics, 7-a-side football, basketball and volleyball;
15 October: NATIONAL MIXED RELAY PARATRIATHLON in Piazza Belvedere in Tirrenia. Swimming/cycling/running relay ParaTriathlon competition. Event from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m;
15 October: 23rd NATIONAL TRIATHLON SPRINT RANK in Piazza Belvedere in Tirrenia. Triathlon competition (750 m swimming, 20 km BDC and 5 km running). Event from 1:45 pm to 4:30 pm.
