"OF STONE, OF EARTH, OF FIRE" is the new group exhibition that will be inaugurated on Saturday 2 March at 4 p.m. at the Antonella Scarfone Art Gallery, Lungarno Gambacorti 29/30.
The exhibition, curated by Antonella Scarfone, has as its undisputed protagonists the three main elements that have been shaping art for centuries.
THE STONE. The precious marble from Carrara, so much loved by the greatest master sculptors in the history of art, above all statuary marble, the most sought-after for its whiteness, its purity, here represented with suave mastery by the works of GIOVANNI BALDERI.
The black Cattani marble, characterised by its darker, warmer hue, here made into skin and femininity by the works of IRENE GIANNACCINI.
EARTH. The variegated clay, which, like living flesh, allows itself to be moulded by the skilful hands of the artists, and gives shape to the intense gazes of JANA BÜTTNER's works, or the poetic, colourful warriors of PAOLO STACCIOLI or the silent busts of ANDREA BERNI in his Raku version.
THE FIRE. The primary element that melts bronze or bends iron to make it, sinuous, light and elegant as in FERRUCCIO MAIERNA's sculptures. Or alive, baking and soiling the terracotta of the mammoths and bison of ULE EWELT.
This exhibition is a tribute to these three elements, to their fascination, their soul, their strength that has always allowed man to give voice to what he has inside.
Also on display are works by: Allén, Rossana Borzelli, Emerald Crimson, Francoise De Felice, Gennifer Deri, Kicki Edgren, Angelo Giordano, Aiden Kringen, Filippo Manfroni, Paolo Medici, Carlo Romiti.
The exhibition will be open to the public with free admission until 28 March 2024.
Opening time: Tuesday to Saturday 16-19. Closed Sundays and Mondays.
