Inaugurated and open to the public from Friday 12 July, opening at 6.30 p.m., the Bastione del Parlascio at Bagni di Nerone. The Municipal Administration of Pisa together with the Pisa Foundation presented the conclusion of the restoration work that made it possible to make the ancient structure usable, which will be used as a museum and exhibition space, as well as a further point of ascent to the high walkway of the Walls of Pisa.
The restoration of the Bastione del Parlascio was made possible thanks to the Fondazione Pisa.
Located close to the archaeological area of the Roman Baths, on the extension of the pedestrian axis of Borgo Stretto and Borgo Largo, the fortified architecture is a strategic point of historical interest and accessibility to the high-level walkway to the city walls, as it houses one of the ascent points, realised with the overcoming of architectural barriers. To this end, the Bastion has been entrusted to the manager of the Walls of Pisa, in order to include it within the high route on the ancient walls.
Starting on Saturday, the Bastion will be open with the opening hours of the Walls, in July and August from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For the first weekend of opening, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14, admission will be free for all visitors who wish to see the ancient structure and access the Walls from the Parlascio, from Monday the visit to the Bastion will be included in the ticket for the Walls of Pisa.
