Run, walk, discover Pisa and support cancer research!
No longer a single annual appointment. After the great success of the Forte dei Marmi editions, which over the years have attracted more and more participants, RUN FOR AIRC expands its presence in the territory. In fact, the Comitato Toscana Fondazione AIRC and the Municipality of Pisa present the first city edition of the non-competitive run/walk, 5 or 10 kilometres long, which will start on Sunday 30 March from Piazza dei Miracoli, the historical and cultural heart of the Tuscan capital.
Participants will be able to compete in two fractions of 5 and 10 kilometres to be covered by running or walking. The start will take place at 10 a.m. from Piazza dei Miracoli, a Unesco World Heritage site, where the finish is also planned. The route will run along the banks of the Arno, a circuit designed for all sports enthusiasts and for people who want to spend a morning of fun in the open air while supporting AIRC's mission.
RUN FOR AIRC PISA is much more than just a run, it is an event that combines sport, pleasure, commitment in support of research, and also appreciation of cultural heritage. It is an event that is part of the Foundation's 60th anniversary calendar of initiatives and helps to raise funds to support the work of 5,400 researchers engaged in innovative projects for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The non-competitive race is also part of the events of the ‘100 days of the Giro d'Italia’ project promoted by the Municipality of Pisa, which in May celebrates the return to the city of one of the most followed and loved cycling races in the world. In 2025 Pisa celebrates the 100th anniversary of the first arrival of the Giro d'Italia: it was 20 May 1925 when the cyclists, starting from Arenzano, arrived in the city. Whoever wears the RUN FOR AIRC T-shirt will also have free access to various historical sites in the city all day Sunday. An increasingly choral and participatory event, which has already received the patronage of the Municipality of Pisa, the Region of Tuscany and the University of Pisa.
All athletes and enthusiasts can register for RUN FOR AIRC PISA from 10 March at Fondazione AIRC Comitato Toscana (viale Gramsci, 19 Firenze - Tel. 055217098), or online from 12 March at: https://www.endu.net/events/id/95573. It will be possible to register and collect the official T-shirt at the Village Expo on Saturday 29 March (from 9.30 am to 6 pm) and Sunday 30 March (from 8 am to 10 am). The registration fee is 10 euros per person, for minors participation is subject to a release form.
At the event, it will also be possible to register as a team, calling together the largest number of friends. An award will be presented to the two largest groups to reward enthusiasm and shared participation. All participants, while stocks last, will receive the official RUN FOR AIRC 2025 t-shirt as well as some surprise gadgets.

Some temporary changes will also be necessary only for the passage of participants along the following route: Via Roma, Piazza Solferino, Lungarno Pacinotti, Lungarno Mediceo, Lungarno Buozzi, Piazza Caduti di Cefalonia, Viale delle Piagge, Piazza Caduti di Cefalonia, Ponte della Vittoria, Lungarno Fibonacci, Lungarno Galilei, Lungarno Gambacorti, Lungarno Sonnino, Ponte della Cittadella, Piazza Terzanaia, Lungarno Simonelli, Piazza Solferino, Via Roma, Piazza del Duomo.
In addition, from 8.00 a.m. on 29 March to 1.00 p.m. on 30 March in Piazza Arcivescovado, vehicular transit and parking is prohibited, including taxis and animal-drawn vehicles, for the installation of Village Expo gazebos.
