
On Saturday 8 March, Pisa's national museums will be open free to all women on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Below is the complete programme.
Museo Nazionale di San Matteo: open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (last admission at 6.30 p.m.)
Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Reale: entrances at 9 a.m., 10.30 a.m. and noon (closing at 1.30 p.m.)
Le Navi Antiche di Pisa: open from 2.30 p.m. top 7.30 p.m. (last admission at 6.30 p.m.)
Certosa Monumentale di Calci: open with compulsory booking by calling this number +39 050 938430, entrances at 2 p.m., 3.30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
At 3.30 p.m. there will be a themed visit: it is thought that men's monasteries are forbidden to women. But is this really the case? On 8 March, we will find out which female presences were and still are in the Charterhouse. Not only that, we will also see what differentiates a male Charterhouse from a female one.
