Forty-five years after the last race, Pisa will host a stage of the Giro d'Italia in 2025.
Symbolically, on the same date of that distant 1980, on 20 May, the Tower will be the finish line of Stage 10, a spectacular time trial Lucca-Pisa.
In 2025, Pisa also celebrates the 100th anniversary of the first arrival of the Giro d'Italia. It was on 20 May 1925 when the cyclists, leaving from Arenzano, arrived in the city of the Tower.
On Wednesday, January 29th, on the occasion of the hundred days since the start of the Giro, Pisa celebrates with a great sporting and cultural event. The Tower lights up in pink to celebrate the return to town of one of the most popular and loved cycling races in the world.
