Food, Wine and... ancient art!
The Gipsoteca also participates in the rich programme of the Terre di Pisa Food & Wine Festival, with activities for adults and children dedicated to the theme of wine and cuisine in the ancient world.
Saturday 15 October at 4.30 p.m.: 'Le mani in pasta', a sensory workshop for children to discover ancient cuisine and a playful activity with Roman ingredients. Booking required at: info.gipsoteca@sma.unipi.it, by 12 October. Cost € 2.50
Saturday 15 October: Special opening until 11.30 p.m. with free guided tours on the theme 'In vino veritas'. No booking required.
Sunday 16 October, 10.30 a.m.: 'Banquet and painting with wine', workshop for children with dramatisation and artistic activity. Booking required at: info.gipsoteca@sma.unipi.it, by 12 October. Workshop cost € 2.50

The activities are organised by the Gipsoteca di Arte Antica e Antiquarium of the University of Pisa (Sistema Museale di Ateneo dell'Università di Pisa), in collaboration with the MARSIA laboratory - Archaeological Museums. Research, Society and Innovation for the Academy of the Civiltà e Forme del Sapere - Università di Pisa.
The collection of the Gipsoteca di Arte Antica, one of the first in Italy (1887), consisting of plaster casts made for study purposes, offers a synthesis of the best-known and most significant works of Greek, Etruscan and Roman art, alongside faithful reproductions of ancient works conserved in various national and foreign museums or reconstructions made at the University of Pisa. The collection is flanked by the Antiquarium of Archaeology, a heterogeneous collection of approximately 1,500 original pieces in which almost all classes of artefacts from antiquity are represented: from ceramic productions to terracotta to metal and stone artefacts.
The Gipsoteca is located in the Romanesque Church of San Paolo all'Orto, is a venue for congresses, seminars, concerts and presentations and is part of the University of Pisa's Sistema Museale di Ateneo.
