World Urban Trekking Day, now in its 19th edition with the slogan "What a Trekking Show!", will take place on 31 October 2022 throughout Italy.
Urban trekking is a sporting and cultural activity suitable for everyone, which combines art, taste and nature and is good for health.
The trek will be led by Piedi in Cammino tourist and environmental guides. The group will consist of a maximum of 25 people. Participation is free of charge but online booking is compulsory by filling in the registration forms for the individual events at this link.
The Municipality of Pisa has joined the Day with two itineraries:
1. THE ARNO, THEATRE OF STORIES AND POPULAR TRADITIONS.
Guiding this itinerary will be the historical tradition that finds its maximum expression in the evenings of June in Pisa in the spectacular setting of the Lungarni. A ring itinerary that follows the winding course of the Arno, with some forays into the Tramontana districts, to recount the ancient origins of some festivals that still excite young and old alike, but also those that have now disappeared and are almost forgotten. Telling tales of the historical tradition at the Piagge, of the rowing races and games that animate the city's historic quarters, we will evoke the close bond between the people of Pisa and their city. Queen of our stories will be the Luminara di San Ranieri, which for centuries has been an unmissable appointment between devotion and identity feeling.

2. PISA, CITY OF CINEMA
At Trekking pace we will walk along streets and squares recalling them as the real film sets of the many films and television series that have been shot in the city. The cinema has been linked to Pisa since its origins: the first film studios were in fact born in Tirrenia. The coastal town within a few kilometres could boast of a rich and varied landscape. We will rediscover forgotten café chantants and retrace the history of cinema from Pisorno to the present day and some of the most famous films shot in Pisa such as Medea by Pasolini, L'amore Ritrovato by C. Mazzacurati, Amici miei - atto II by Mario Monicelli and many others.
