The historical group Balestrieri di Porta San Marco, in collaboration with the Compagnia dei Balestrieri di Lucca and with the patronage of the Municipality of Pisa, has organised, for Sunday 8 September at the Stampace Bastion, the historical re-enactment of 8 September 1499, the day on which, after 38 long days of siege, the Florentine army commanded by Paolo Vitelli, was forced to abandon the siege brought to the city of Pisa, at the Bastion.
Starting at 4 p.m. at the Stampace Bastion.
PROGRAMME
9 a.m. disposition of medieval camp;
12 p.m. laurel wreath laying at the walls by the City Authorities, with the presence of the City Banner with Valets in historical costume;
3.30 p.m. gathering of participants in the historical procession at the Fortilio della Cittadella
4 p.m. start of the historical parade to the Church of San Paolo a Rièpa d'Arno, where a solemn blessing will be given to the participants; short procession to Largo dei Marinai d'Italia;
4.30 p.m. entry of the historical procession to the Sostegno, presentation of the new historical re-enactment group of the Alfieri e Musici di Porta Pisana and the Compagnia del Leone Rampante, greeting and flag-waving;
5.30 p.m. Palio between the Crossbowmen of the Crossbowmen Company of Lucca and the Crossbowmen of Porta San Marco, inside the Sostegno. Archers exhibition;
6.30 p.m. proclamation of the winners and flag-waving of the victory as cocnlusion of the commemoration.
