The exhibition ‘Far away, so close’ by artist Michele Bracciotti, curated by Massimiliano Sbrana, opens on Saturday 29 March 2025 at 5.30 p.m. at the GAMeC CentroArteModerna in Pisa (on the Lungarno Mediceo 26).

THE ARTIST
Michele Bracciotti, a true Pisan, has a deep and authentic bond with his hometown. This bond is clearly reflected in his works, which not only celebrate Pisa's iconic monuments, but also reveal the lesser-known corners and hidden stories that only those who live and breathe the air of this city can grasp.
Bracciotti's work is a love letter to Pisa. Through his evocative images and unique perspectives, he captures the historical grandeur of the city, as well as its vibrant daily life. His photographs/works often highlight hidden corners, intimate moments and lesser-known details that locals might overlook. This approach not only shows the architectural beauty of Pisa, but also its dynamic and living culture. In essence, Bracciotti invites viewers to see Pisa through his eyes, celebrating its rich heritage and the vibrant spirit of its inhabitants. Born in Pisa, a medical doctor, he learnt as a self-taught photographer traditional black and white printing techniques in the darkroom, adding to them a particular interest in transposing images using alternative methods such as cyanotype. Attending Maestro Dario Ghibaudo's school in Milan, he then learned the rudiments of clay modelling. He graduated as a potter at the Experimental Ceramic Centre in Montelupo Fiorentino. He has had the opportunity to participate in numerous group exhibitions and I can mention personal events such as ‘La mia Terra’ at the Gamec in Pisa, ‘Motus terrae motus’ at Palazzo Mathis in Bra, and ‘Archetipi e Presagi’ at the Ceramics Museum in Mondovì.
He currently divides his free time equally between producing ceramic artefacts in my workshop in Bra, the city where he lives and works, and promoting cyanotypes and photography in general by organising seminars in private galleries.

A dedicated catalogue will also be presented on the occasion of the exhibition.

Free entrance. Hours: 10 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. 4 p.m. - 6.30 p.m. (weekdays). Closed Mondays. Special opening Sunday 30 March 2025 4-6.30 p.m.
