Once again this year, the Municipality of Pisa is organising a rich programme of events to celebrate Christmas: not only the traditional markets, but also travelling shows for adults and children, light installations and Christmas arrangements in the city's main squares. Plus creative workshops, ice sculptors and renewed lighting.
Lighting, trees and Christmas decorations. Renovated Christmas decorations and installations in the old town, in the districts and on the coastline. In Piazza della Stazione citizens and visitors will be greeted by a giant three-dimensional star with a tail, measuring 22x7.5 metres. In piazza Vittorio, on the other hand, there will be a structure measuring 8 by 3 metres with the illuminated inscription '2024'. It will be possible to cross the inscription through a pedestrian archway in the number '0'. Along the streets of the historical centre, lighting will be installed that will recall a starry sky. A three-dimensional star measuring 6 metres high and 7 metres wide will be placed in Piazza Gambacorti. In Piazza Garibaldi, Piazza XX Settembre, Piazza Cairoli and Piazza Manin, the lighting wires will start from a central point of the square until they widen out to cover it all, thus forming pagodas. In Piazza XX Settembre, the traditional Christmas tree, with the façade of the newly renovated Palazzo Pretorio, on which a videomapping of a starry sky will be projected. Along Ponte di Mezzo, two light curtains will be installed on both sides, connecting the two sides of the city. In Largo Ciro Menotti a large luminous gift pack measuring 4 metres by 4. Piazza Dante will also be illuminated, where luminous figures will be installed to recreate an ice effect. Finally, in Piazza Belvedere in Tirrenia and in Piazza XXV Aprile in Putignano, two three-dimensional trees on a self-supporting structure 5 metres high will be installed.
As for the 'traditional' trees. On 8 December, the lighting of the large decorated tree in Piazza XX Settembre. Also in the city centre, other Christmas decorations will be installed in Piazza della Berlina and at the Church of San Michele in Borgo. On the coast, Piazza delle Baleari in Marina and Eliopoli in Calambrone will be involved. Moving on to the neighbourhoods, Christmas compositions at Cep, Putignano, San Giusto, Gagno, Sant'Ermete, Riglione, via Fiorentina, via di Cisanello, via Amendola, I Passi, via Bargagna, Oratoio and at the Viale delle Piagge roundabout.
