Back in Pisa, Universo Corto- International Short Film Festival, now in its 17th edition.
The festival will take place at La Nunziatina Garden from 17 to 21 September, free admission every evening!
Universo Corto is an international short film festival that started in Pisa in 2004 and will have its 17th edition in 2024. It is an independent festival of free-themed short films organised by the cultural association Giovani Persone.
The festival is mainly aimed at university students, PhD students or those enrolled in film schools, but for some years it has also been open to independent filmmakers. Since the first edition, the presidency of the event has been permanently entrusted to director Roberto Faenza. The Festival's artistic director is Riccardo Romboli.
Every evening starting at 7 pm, the festival will host pre-festival events, including readings, book presentations and live concerts
The opening night on 17 September will be a special moment, with renowned musician Dennis Bovell as our guest. We are excited to present the Italian premiere of the documentary Lovers Rock , directed by Oscar winner Steve McQueen .
The screening will be followed by a DJ set by Dennis Bovell , who is featured in the documentary.
From 18 to 21 September, the international short films in competition will be screened from 9.15 pm.
On the final evening, 21 September, the festival will conclude with an awards ceremony for the most outstanding short films in this year's competition.
