Gianni Rodari's nursery rhymes set to music for children are the theme of the show 'La testa del chiodo. Una maestra fantastica' (The head of the nail. A fantastic teacher), which the Verdi Theatre presents on Sunday 28 January at 6 p.m. as the second title of the Family and Kids Season, dedicated to children and families. This is a production by Rancia Verdeblu and Associazione Sassi nello Stagno, directed by Ada Borgiani, with music and arrangements by Virgilio Savona and Aldo Passarini (under licence from Curci editore).
Four schoolchildren spend an entire morning in the library, but thanks to a rather peculiar teacher, the book room is transformed into a magic box: on stage, nursery rhymes, songs and games come to life in a succession of bizarre situations. Words and music combine the absolute necessity for children to roam freely with their imagination: and so it is that Vestito di Arlecchino is dressed in a somewhat clownish marchette, Calamaio in a languid waltz with a Parisian flavour, Girotondo di tutto il mondo in a pressing samba rhythm worthy of the Rio Carnival.
