JANUARY 2024
14 January → Workshop "The Longobards arrive
Pisa was also Longobard, as testified by the Longobard necropolis in Piazza dei Miracoli. During the workshop a Longobard cross will be reproduced, on embossed sheet metal, like the one found in Pisa.
21 January → Thematic visit 'Trade routes and ship cargoes: import-export in the ancient world'.
Most of the ships found in Pisa were used for trade, in fact they still had their cargoes on board when they were found. Thanks to these incredible finds, we now know a lot more about both the goods and the routes: the ships travelled along real roads in the sea, transporting the most diverse goods, such as 'hams' from Spain, fruit from Campania, but also curious ones, such as kilos of fine sand from the Gulf of Naples.
28 January → Workshop "The paths of the sea
Workshop on trade and sea routes, with reproduction on ceramic fragments of painted or graffitied signs and inscriptions bearing information such as origin, destination, type of product, which constituted the ancient system of "labelling" cargo
Duration 1 hour
